• Matches or a lighter

Note: A Dressed and Blessed Shut Your Mouth Beeswax Vigil Candle comes with oil and herbs already applied. If getting the plain candle, add the following:

• Shut Your Mouth Oil by Madame Pamita
• A small pinch of herbs to sprinkle on the top, such as Licorice Root Powder, Calamus Root Powder, or Poppy Seeds.

The Spell:

Begin by cleansing your sacred space and centering yourself. If you are dressing the plain candle, remove the candle from the glass and dress it on top and sides with a few drops of Shut Your Mouth Oil while visualizing the gossiper's mouth sealed shut and their words having no power. Replace the candle back into the glass.

Place your petition paper with your written statement naming the gossip you wish to stop on a heat-safe surface and place the vigil candle in its glass on top of the paper. If you're using herbs, sprinkle a very small pinch of them on top of the candle.

Light the candle and speak your intention aloud, being specific about the gossip you want to silence. For example: "[Name]'s mouth is shut. Their words have no power. Gossip about me stops now. Rumors slide off me. My secrets are protected. My reputation is safe. No one speaks ill of me. [Name] is silent." Visualize the gossiper's mouth sealed shut, their words falling on deaf ears, and rumors sliding off you like water as the candle burns.
