Workshop Description

Join me on May 2, 2027, at 5PM PT/6PM MT/7PM CT/8PM ET for the May Slavic Sunday Workshop: Vyshyvanky: Slavic Talismanic Embroidery. In this immersive Zoom workshop, we’ll uncover the protective language stitched into vyshyvanky, the traditional embroidered garments of Ukraine. Learn how color, geometry, plants, animals, placement, and repetition turn ornament into a wearable talisman for identity, blessing, protection, and continuity. Can’t make it live? A recording will be sent to all who register.

This workshop is part of the 2027 Slavic Sundays Witchcraft Workshop Series, Slavic Roots: A Year of Magic and Myth. This series is a masterclass in Slavic folklore, folk magic, and spirit traditions. Make sure to subscribe so you never miss a workshop (and save 25%, or even more by pre-paying for the full year!).

More Info:

A vyshyvanka can be beautiful, but its patterns are not merely decorative. Embroidery marks the vulnerable openings of a garment, carries regional and family memory, and surrounds the wearer with meaningful signs. We’ll decode common motifs and explore how the mindful act of stitching can become a magical practice in its own right.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Embroidery as Protection: Understand why collars, cuffs, hems, and other garment openings were surrounded with sacred patterning.
  • Reading the Symbols: Explore diamonds, crosses, stars, trees, flowers, birds, and other recurring talismanic motifs.
  • The Magic of Color: Learn how red, black, white, blue, green, and gold communicate different blessings and intentions.
  • Regional and Family Traditions: Discover how embroidery preserves place, ancestry, community, and personal identity.
  • Stitching with Intention: Use rhythm, repetition, prayer, and focused attention to turn handwork into magical action.
  • Creating a Personal Talisman: Plan a small embroidered charm or motif using symbols aligned with your own purpose.

This workshop will help stitchers and non-stitchers alike recognize vyshyvanky as living maps of protection, memory, and cultural resilience.

What's Included:

  • Access to the live Zoom workshop with Madame Pamita on May 2nd, 2027.
  • A recording of the workshop, sent to all registrants to watch or download anytime.
