The familiar storybook mermaid represents only one small current in a vast global sea of water-spirit traditions. Some beings protect waterways, grant wealth, inspire artists, foretell storms, demand offerings, or punish disrespect. We’ll compare traditions and cultural differences and draw practical lessons for reverent water magic.
