In this immersive Zoom workshop, we’ll enter the realm of the Lisovyk, the mysterious woodland guardian of Ukrainian and Slavic folklore. Learn how this shape-shifting forest spirit protects wild places, confuses careless travelers, and teaches the importance of respect, reciprocity, and awareness when entering the woods. The forest was never considered empty. It was alive with presences, boundaries, and rules, and the Lisovyk stood among its most powerful guardians. Stories describe him as playful, dangerous, wise, and fiercely protective of animals and trees. We’ll examine the folklore surrounding this spirit and the practical lessons he offers for connecting ethically with the living landscape.

• Who Is the Lisovyk?: Explore his origins, names, appearances, and place within Ukrainian and broader Slavic folklore.
• Master of the Forest: Understand his authority over trees, animals, pathways, and the hidden rhythms of wild places.
• Signs and Encounters: Learn the traditional clues that someone has crossed into the Lisovyk’s domain or attracted his attention.
• Etiquette in the Woods: Discover customs, taboos, permissions, and offerings associated with safely entering the forest.
• Shape-Shifting and Disorientation: Examine stories of altered appearances, misleading paths, echoes, and magical tests.
• Honoring Woodland Spirits: Develop respectful practices for building awareness and reciprocity with the spirits of local land.

This workshop is for anyone drawn to forest folklore, land spirits, and nature-based magic, offering a deeper relationship with wild places and the beings believed to guard them.
