Yarrow is sometimes referred to as Bloodwort because it was historically used by people to staunch bleeding and treat wounds. It's scientific name Achillea is because this treatment was believed to be used for treating Achilles' military.
Bloodwort is a terrific tool for protection, particularly against physical harm. It can also be carried to give courage. Traditionally, it is placed under a pillow will allow the sleeper to dream of his or her future spouse. Drinking a tea made of the herb assists with psychic and intuitive opening. Newlyweds can use the flowers or drink a tea to ensure a happy marriage.
Caution: Bloodwort/Yarrow should not be ingested by pregnant women. Yarrow can sometimes cause skin irritation in those who are sensitive.
